    Udaipur City lies in the hills just east of the Aravalli Range, about 65 miles (100 km) southwest of Chittaurgarh. Udaipur (“City of Sunrise”) was made the capital of the princely state of Udaipur (Mewar) in 1568 by Maharaja Udai Singh after the sack of Chittaurgarh. Udaipur princely state was established in the 8th century by Sisodia Rajputs (warrior rulers of the historic region of Rajputana). The District Court of Udaipur is a prominent judicial institution located in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. It serves as the principal court for the Udaipur District, which is a part of the state’s judicial system. The court plays a vital role in administering justice, resolving legal disputes, and upholding the rule of law within its jurisdiction.

    The District Court of Udaipur operates under the supervision of the Rajasthan High Court, which is the highest judicial authority in the state. The court is presided over by a District Judge who holds the position of the administrative head and is responsible for the overall functioning of the court. The District Judge is assisted by a team of judges and court staff in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the court.

    The District Court of Udaipur has jurisdiction over both civil and criminal matters within its geographical boundaries and specially decided jurisdiction by the High Court of Rajasthan. It hears a wide range of cases, including civil suits, property disputes, family matters, criminal cases, and various other special legal matters.

    The court premises are equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities to facilitate smooth court proceedings. It has multiple courtrooms, chambers for judges, offices for court staff, and separate waiting areas for the litigants and visitors. The court also utilizes digital technology to streamline its operations, such as e-filing systems and online case management platforms. There are two buildings of District Court Udaipur i.e. Old Court Complex & New Court Complex. Both the complexes are situated in the same premesis.
